After more than two years in development, this pioneering vessel brings eco-friendly transportation to the forefront of the city’s tourism experience.

The Boat

The sleek new electric boat seats 32 passengers and is docked at the V&A Waterfront, right outside the One&Only Hotel. Designed for comfort and quiet cruising, the vessel offers a serene, environmentally conscious journey along Cape Town’s canals.

Part of the regular City Sightseeing canal boat schedule, the experience is enhanced by the boat’s silent operation, so no noisy engines, just the sounds of water and the views of the city. Skippers will guide passengers between the V&A Waterfront and the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The electric boat offers a range of key features, including zero emissions that contribute to cleaner air and water, and smooth performance with minimal vibration for a comfortable ride.

Sustainability at the Forefront

The boat aligns with City Sightseeing South Africa’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable urban development. This launch not only represents a significant step forward in maritime innovation but also reinforces Cape Town’s leadership in green technology. As the city continues to grow, the electric boat stands as a powerful symbol of its dedication to building a cleaner, more sustainable, and inclusive future.

“We are thrilled to introduce this cutting-edge technology to Cape Town’s waters,” said Claus Tworeck, CEO of City Sightseeing South Africa. “Our electric boat is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and our dedication to preserving the natural beauty of our marine environment.”

New Additions to the City Sightseeing Red Bus Route

City Sightseeing has added a brand-new Stop 25: Hout Bay–Sentinel Precinct to its Mini-Peninsula Blue Tour Route. This area is known for its stunning views, bustling markets, and diverse attractions, including the Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay Harbour Distillery, Sinful Ice Cream, Urban Craft Brewery, and several local eateries like Fish on the Rocks and Snoekies.

City Sightseeing has also introduced an exciting new wine tour in Stellenbosch. Departing from Cape Town, guests head to Eikendal Wine Estate, where they hop aboard a guided tractor tour through rolling vineyards. Along the way, they’ll get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the art of winemaking and wine tasting.
