Nairobi’s anime and manga community is buzzing with excitement, and for good reason because Otamatsuri 2025 is finally here! The convention, Africa’s only exclusive anime and manga festival, kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, August 23rd, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

From 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, expect an all-day celebration packed with cosplay, anime merch, Japanese food, gaming, K-pop, and even a debut performance by Japanese idol MIRAISKIRT⁺. And if that’s not enough, the night transforms into an 18+ Anime After Party and LANarchy, an overnight LAN party that will keep gamers glued to their screens until 9:00 am on Sunday.

This year’s edition feels extra special. After celebrating its five-year anniversary last year, Otamatsuri 2025 is embracing a “fresh start” with even more love for the anime community. Fans are already hyped up for photo booths, competitions, sake tastings, and the sheer joy of geeking out with fellow anime lovers.

But here’s where things get even more interesting. Infinix is the exclusive mobile partner, bringing its youthful and creative brand energy right into the heart of the convention. Alongside them, NCBA Bank is stepping in as a key partner, proving that anime and manga aren’t just niche passions anymore. They’re big, mainstream cultural moments worth investing in. And with Anisuma Traders Ltd. showcasing the best in gaming and gadgets, plus support from Africa Bon Odori and other partners, the event feels bigger, bolder, and more community-driven than ever.

Tickets are going for KES 2,000 for regular and KES 5,000 for VIP (the best buds tickets at KES 1,700 are sold out), and if history is anything to go by, the halls of KICC will be filled with some of the most colorful cosplay Nairobi has ever seen.

So, whether you’re a diehard anime fan, a curious newcomer, or just looking for an excuse to dress up and party, Otamatsuri 2025 promises to be one for the books.
