Trump Says He Spoke With Putin Forward of Zelensky Assembly

President Donald Trump stated he had a “good and really productive” telephone name with Russian chief Vladimir Putin forward of a face-to-face assembly with Ukraine’s president.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump are set to satisfy Sunday afternoon on the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida as he pushes for a peace deal within the long-running conflict. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the Trump-Putin name. 

Forward of the Trump assembly, Zelensky met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax, Nova Scotia and held a flurry of calls with European leaders, together with NATO chief Mark Rutte, to align their stance. 

Trump has ramped up stress on Ukraine to make concessions and dangled guarantees of financial cooperation at Russia. Whereas Zelensky has repeatedly declared his readiness for a ceasefire to permit house for peace negotiations, Putin has refused Trump’s requires a truce with out first having reached settlement on a deal.

Earlier Sunday, Russian Overseas Minister Sergei Lavrov referred to as Europe “the primary impediment to peace,” saying leaders there, together with Ukraine, had proven no readiness for constructive talks.

Russia spent the weekend bombarding Ukraine, pounding Kyiv with a whole lot of drones and missiles and finishing up a big strike on Kherson in Ukraine’s southeast.
