Dewald Brevis is regarded as one of the most exciting young cricket talents in the world, and he has burst onto the international T20 scene with a series of incredible knocks this year.

The big-hitting right-handed batsman looks perfectly suited to the shortest format of the game, and after a stunning start to his Proteas career at T20 level, his stocks have skyrocketed.

He has now been picked up by the Pretoria Capital in the latest SA20 auction for a whopping R16.5 million.

Brevis played for MI Cape Town in the first three seasons of the SA20, but the talented 22-year-old now returns ‘home’ where he will play for the Pretoria side.

“He’s a game changer,” said new Capitals coach Sourav Ganguly.

In other big sales, Aiden Markram was sold to Durban’s Super Giants for R14 million, while all-rounder Wiaan Mulder went to the Joburg Super Kings for R9 million.

IN OTHER NEWS

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that David Miller has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against England due to a right hamstring strain.

Miller sustained the injury during the final week of The Hundred while representing the Northern Superchargers.

After missing the Proteas’ recent ODI series, he will now also have to sit out the T20I series, which gets underway at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Wednesday.

No replacement has been named.
