On 22 July 2025 the South African Protea Team for the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Esports title faced off against Congo and Namibia in its bid to earn a place at IESF’s World Esports Championships
In the first match, South Africa sliced through Namibia like the proverbial hot knife through butter, and won the first game 20 – 0 and the second game 16 – 5. At no time in the two games did it seem as though Namibia had any chance of resisting the ferocity of the South African attack.
Then came great disappointment for the victorious South African team.
The Congolese team, whether scared off by the complete defeat of the Namibian team, or some other reason, failed to show in the arena of battle.
While the non appearance is still a victory for the South African team, such a victory is never as satisfying as a well earned victory for which a team has valiantly earned!
