Khanyisa Mayo says it’s a dream come true to follow in his father’s footsteps by joining Kaizer Chiefs.

The Eastern Cape put pen to paper at Chiefs after joining the club on a loan move from CR Belouizdad.

Mayo managed to score six goals and grabbed one assist in 41 appearances in all competitions for the Algerian outfit.

He will now wear the No. 3 jersey at Amakhosi, where he is hoping to emulate his father and help Chiefs gain success this season.

“To be honest, I couldn’t sleep. I said to my agent. Let’s make it possible. There’s no other team I want to play for,” Mayo told his club’s official website.

“I had other offers, but I only wanted to come back home, and Kaizer Chiefs is my home. This is where I grew up, Naturena.

“The first person I called was my mother, who was sitting with my father, and they both jumped for joy and celebrated that I would be joining my father in continuing the legacy of the Club.

“The fact that he came before me adds a bit of pressure for me, but it’s something I grew up with, so I’m used to it.”
