Mia Thornton’s Messy Divorce FINALIZED After Years Of Drama!
Mia Thornton just announced that her messy divorce is officially finalized — and says she’s ready to turn the page and live her best drama-free life.
The Real Housewives of Potomac alum took to Instagram to celebrate her divorce being finalized, writing: “Divorced, but not defeated. My heart is still full, my faith unshaken, and my future wide open. Divorce does not define me. Reinvention does. Watch me rise higher, love deeper, and live freer than ever before.”
Mia’s message comes after years of public marital drama, financial chaos, and emotional turmoil with now-ex-husband Gordon Thornton. Mia previously revealed that her “breaking point” came in October 2023 when Gordon publicly shamed her, admitting it was the moment she knew she had to walk away.
Gordon himself opened up about their rocky marriage, admitting he once gave Mia a “hall pass” to sleep with other men to “satisfy” her needs. “I know there’s going to come a time when I probably won’t be able to satisfy all of her needs,” he confessed — but said he was furious when Mia chose to “sneak around” and “lie” about what was really going on.
Mia has long denied claims that she stayed with Gordon for money.
“If I were to be leaving my marriage because of financial reasons – I would’ve left seven or eight years ago,” she said on the RHOP Season 8 finale. “He was spending an excessive amount of money… and just not home, coming in at the middle of the night.”
The couple’s marriage was further strained by business woes and Gordon’s revelation at the Season 8 reunion that he had been diagnosed with bipolar I disorder, which he admitted caused “manic behavior” that contributed to their downfall.
Mia revealed she felt “tired” and “lost herself” before ultimately filing for divorce.
In a twist that shocked fans, Mia and Gordon briefly rekindled things over New Year’s Eve 2025, even taking a family vacation together. “NEW Year. New Beginnings. Cheers to living life to the fullest 🥂 #momanddad #nye2025,” Mia captioned a smiling selfie with her ex.
But the reconciliation didn’t last long, and the pair ultimately decided to split for good. Mia shares two children with Gordon — Jeremiah and Juliana. She and Gordon married in 2012.
