Zimbabwe Extends Responsibility-Free Automobile Imports for Safari Operators to 2026

The Zimbabwean authorities has introduced a key coverage extension to spice up its safari tourism sector. Within the 2026 Nationwide Finances, Finance Minister Mithuli Ncube confirmed that the duty-free importation of automobiles for safari operators and tour firms can be prolonged for 2 years, efficient January 1, 2026.

Objective and Impression:

The measure is designed to draw funding and modernize safari fleets, permitting operators to import specialised automobiles and buses with out customary import duties.
This goals to boost service high quality, enhance Zimbabwe’s competitiveness as a world-class safari vacation spot, and assist the rising demand from worldwide vacationers.
The coverage is a part of a broader package deal of presidency incentives for tourism, together with tax holidays and advantages in designated Tourism Improvement Zones.

Context:

The extension underscores the federal government’s recognition of tourism as a significant financial pillar, with the sector projected to develop by 2.9% in 2025 and three.1% in 2026.
It aligns with efforts to capitalize on Zimbabwe’s world recognition, similar to being named Forbes’ high vacation spot for 2025, and to strengthen sustainable and eco-tourism choices.

This fiscal incentive is meant to drive infrastructure funding, stimulate financial development, and solidify Zimbabwe’s place as a number one safari vacation spot in Africa.
